Due to Bain & Co.’s involvement in state capture in South Africa, the company has been barred from bidding on contracts with the UK government for three years.
The restriction, which will take effect retroactively on January 4, 2022, was announced in a letter from UK Cabinet Office Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg to Bain UK Managing Partner James Hadley, according to The Financial Times.

The ban is based on the testimony of Bain & Co whistleblower Atholl Williams and pressure from Lord Peter Hain.
Williams revealed Bain & Co.’s unethical interactions with the South African Revenue Service during his testimony before the state capture inquiry (Sars).
Later, the committee concluded that had an “illegal” engagement with Sars.
