Do you stay at work when your system is offline or do you leave the office and use the opportunity to get a little downtime?
With a global IT outage hitting Microsoft users on Friday, 19 July the Drive 959 team wanted to know how listeners handled such situations in the workplace.
With most people working shifts and being expected to remain at the office for the stipulated hours as per contractual obligations, some just wait until their shift is over before leaving.
Others say they would gladly jump at the chance to leave the office a little early especially on a Friday.
You can still be productive and work offline
It happens, our work systems fail sometimes, and in a perfect world, most of us would be the super heroes who keep working no matter what.
Think about people who live in remote areas where Wifi signal cuts off, at times for hours, do they just stop working altogether and wait for signal to come back before doing something productive?
No. That’s Glen Lewis’ stance when it comes to work, regardles of whether systems are offline or online. The Drive 959 host says he would find ways to work, so that when the system reboots, or comes back online he’s prepared.
Whether it’s drafting out an email or proposal he’s been putting of, or handwriting notes for a meeting to pass around to attendees in the boardroom, Mr Lewis does not just sit idle and wait around.
When the going gets tough, it’s important that you seize the opportunity to show your colleagues, manager or clients that you can think outside the box to get things done.
