A listener who recently lost her mom shares that her mom’s boyfriend is still living in their house despite not marrying her mom. What’s worse is that he is bringing other women into their house. Reaching out to fellow Best T in the City listeners, she seeks advice on how to handle this situation without coming across as disrespectful.
“My mother passed away three years ago. Her boyfriend moved in with us when she was still alive, and my brother and I were still young. He has been living with us since, and when my mother passed away, we thought that he would move out. But three years later, he is still living with us.
“Family and friends also said he should’ve left a long time ago since my mom and he were not married and they didn’t have kids together. Initially, we didn’t see the fuss because we knew my mom loved him. However, he started dating again, and I didn’t have a problem until he brought his new lady over.
“I felt very uncomfortable, and when I told him, he said our house is our residence. I don’t mind him dating, but having other women in my mother’s bed doesn’t make me feel comfortable. I don’t want to ask him to leave because he has nowhere to go. I also don’t want other women coming into our space. Is there a way to deal with this without taking drastic measures?”
