A heated exchange unfolded between the EFF and AfriForum on the SABC show It’s Topical, igniting a fresh debate around the infamous “Kill the Boer”, chant. This clash marked yet another instance of tackling crucial matters head-on.
Sizwe Dhlomo and the team delved into the broader question: “Do these discussions effectively address the underlying issues or do they inadvertently deepen the divides on the matters at hand? The show also welcomed listeners to join the discourse, providing a platform for diverse perspectives on the matter.
Mpho Maboi points out the recurring nature of these debates, stemming from a collective desire for a breakthrough. “We keep hitting a wall, hoping that someday there will be a little crack, the light will come through, and this person will start seeing reason,” she said.
Sol Phenduka contributed by highlighting the complexity of the situation. “We are a country that believes in rehabilitation, but you can’t rehabilitate all racists, and that is why it should be criminalized. We have been talking about the same thing, even with crime, and the punishment is not hard enough to deter people from committing crime,” added Sol.
