Uyajola 2022: Celebrity cheating scandals that shook us this year

By: Natasha Archary

Uyajola 2022, the celebrity edition offered South Africans a lot of office gossip with cheating scandals that shook most of us this year.

Who can forget the infamous #Cheesecakegate that had many invested in how Matthew and Sonia Booth were going to manage her exposing her husband for his apparent affair.

Let’s not forget about Elton Jantjies and his sordid affair with the Springboks’ dietician, Zeenat Simjee, all while his wife and three kids were in another country.

While there were whispers of a few more infidelities with South African celebrities, most didn’t catch wind and set fire. Let’s recap the Top 5 celebrity cheating scandals in 2022.

Uyajola 2022

Mihlali Ndamase and Leeroy Sidambe

The affair that attracted the most attention this year was perhaps that of Mihlali Ndamase and her married lover, Leeroy Sidambe.

Mihlali was labelled a homewrecker and received severe backlash on social media for her involvement with the businessman who was accused of leaving his wife for the socialite.

The two sparked rumours that they were coupled up after Mihlali posted their lavish travels to her Instagram but not revealing Leeroy.

Until Leeroy had enough of his lover being subjected to online bullying and released a statement which pretty much made his relationship with Mihlali official.

“The constant harrasment she receives, instigated by my estranged wife’s associates, is unbearable and quite frankly not safe for anyone’s mental wellbeing.”

Mihlali and Leeroy reportedly married in a traditional ceremony earlier this year but the couple have not confirmed this.

Msaki and Smash Afrika

No one could have predicted that singer and songwriter Msaki would quit social media over rumours she had an affair with married radio personality, Smash Afrika.

The two were called out in a report by the Sunday World which claimed Smash’s wife, Kefiloe Chuene had found proof that Msaki was having an affair with her husband.

Msaki couldn’t handle being dragged on social media and having her personal life laid bare that she left the “toxic space” to focus on her life.

Smash’s wife found pictures of him and Msaki kissing passionately and found several letters of the singer professing her love to her husband.

Jub Jub and Zenith “Zee” Mia

Ironic that the Uyajola 9/9 host has made this list, right?

Jub Jub’s rumoured fiancé, Tumi Mthembu has accused the Uyajola 9/9 host of being a serial cheat for almost 20-years.

Tumi has spoken out after images of Jub Jub getting cosy with a white woman have surfaced.

Identified as an Italian businesswoman, Zenith ‘Zee’ Mia, Jub Jub and his “other woman” were spotted embracing in public in matching outfits.

Mia was also spotted with an engagement ring on her finger, which sparked rumours that he was engaged to her, leaving Tumi fuming.

Matthew Booth and Bongani Mthombeni-Möller

Matthew Booth’s wife, Sonia came out accusing her husband of cheating on her with a married fitness instructor, Bongani Mthombeni-Möller.

Sonia didn’t hesitate to share receipts of her husband’s alleged indiscretions, revealing overnight trips expensive gifts and lunches between Matthew and Bongani.

As if that wasn’t enough, Sonia claimed that Matthew had baked Bongani a cheesecake and delivered it to her using her Tupperware.

Sonia had initially thought Matthew had baked the cheesecake for their son’s birthday but woke up to discover the cheesecake had disappeared.

All of Sonia’s allegations were denied by Matthew and he said he would be taking the legal route with his wife who ruined his reputation.

Elton Jantjies and Zeenat Simjee

News of Elton Jantjies and Zeenat Simjee’s affair shook the Bok camp during the team’s tour in Argentina in September.

Both Jantjies and Simjee were sent home to deal with the rumours that the pair left an unsettled R26 000 bill at a guesthouse in Mbombela.

Jantjies who is married to Iva Ristic, with whom he has three young children at first denied the allegations he had an affair and had checked himself into a drug rehabilitation center.

He later admitted to the affair with Simjee but was adamant he was not in rehab for drug abuse and said he had checked into a holistic clinic to help him cleanse his mind and destress.

Jantjies’ wife and kids were living in Japan while he was on tour with the Boks.

The couple have since moved to Cyprus to start over, with Jantjies claiming he will do whatever it takes to make it up to his beautiful wife.
