It’s been 1-year since Siv Ngesi lost his mother Ntombizanele “Selele” Jacqueline Ngesi, but the pain still feels fresh to the South African actor, comedian, presenter and producer.
Friday, 11 August marked 1-year since Siv’s mother passed, and he describes the past year without her as the longest, hardest, most painful year of his life.
Siv’s comment section was flooded with messages of condolences and heartfelt words of sympathy over his grief.
The Woman King actor, shared a touching video tribute to his mom, who passed at the age of 67.
“It’s been the longest, hardest and most painful year of my life. I miss her so much, my will to live is tested more often than I ever thought possible. I’ve never loved and hated life all at the same time…they say men can’t multitask.”

Jacqueline Ngesi, an author, launched her first book, The Resilient Queen in 2021.
Siv’s mother raised him single handedly, taking him to all his auditions, and believing in his talent.
Jacqueline believed one day, her son would make it, and Siv fulfilled his mother’s dream of walking the red carpet, when he took her to the SAFTASSA awards, shortly before her passing.
