South African musician Makhadzi has reportedly survived a near-death incident.
The Matorokisi hitmaker has allegedly survived a targeted shooting in Tshwane.
According to the SowetanLive Makhadzi was robbed by two gunmen who then started shooting at her outside the venue she was paid to perform on Saturday, 14th May 2022.
It is also said that upon being scheduled to perform at the Ga-Rankuwa Shisanyama in Tshwane, Makhadzi was waiting outside her car when two armed men approached her.
The singer was robbed of her cellphone at gun point and a gun was fired in her direction after fleeing from the incident.
The motive of this tragic incident is unknown, however according to Lionel Jamela, the owner of Open Mic Records, Makhadzi thought that she was being targeted.
Despite this, Makhadzi managed to escape the incident unharmed.
In a statement Open Mic Records noted that upon being escorted out of Garunkuwa, Makhadzi along with Lionel and a dancer noticed that a car was following them.
“Upon leaving the venue we (Makhadzi, dancer and Lionel) noticed a car following us, we went to the nearest police station. We opened a case at Ga-Rankuwa police station. Police even escorted us out of Ga-Rankuwa”, the statement read.
Makhadzi and her dancers have reportedly gone for counseling following the incident.
