Popular South African singer/songwriter Makhadzi has been accused of not showing up to a gig after being paid 70k.
Makhadzi was booked to perform in Mafikeng on the 17th of April 2020 as posted by Miga Events on Facebook.
According to one of the organisers, her road manager asked if her performance be postponed due to heavy rains on the day.
“We informed her that our stage was covered and that there were no rains in Mahikeng that day. Later that evening, around 20h00, they came back and said they have a problem and that Makhadzi was in Venda and her car had broken down,” as quoted by Sowetan Live.
They then requested a refund of the booking fee that was paid to secure the musician.
“The promoter requested the video and the apology video was sent to the event organiser as requested,” Makhadzi’s management is quoted by the publication.
Makhadzi’s management confirmed that their records show that a refund was paid despite the organisers saying otherwise.
