American rapper and musician, Lizzo is facing explosive sexual harassment allegations after three of the artist’s former backup dancers launched a lawsuit against her.
Melissa Viviane Jefferson, known professionally as Lizzo, is accused of sexual harassment after coercing her dancers into engaging in sexually denigrating behaviour whilst in Amsterdam.
Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, say they were pressured to eat bananas that were protruding out of nude sex workers’ vaginas, whilst on a night out, in the Red Light District, in Amsterdam.
The backup dancers allege that an invite to Lizzo’s “after parties” meant they were in the artist’s “good books” and had job security.
At the Amsterdam club, Lizzo allegedly invited her dancers to touch the nude performers, catch dildos that were “launched” from the performer’s vaginas, and eat bananas that were inserted inside the sex workers.
While Davis and Williams were fired, Rodriguez resigned, due to the poor working conditions she claims to have been subjected to.
The 35-year old is also being accused of creating a hostile work environment where her dancers felt terrified to excuse themselves for bathroom breaks.
A body-positive influencer in public, Lizzo who held auditions to find plus-size backup dancers, allegedly weight-shamed her dancers in private.
Amongst the allegations against Lizzo and her management team, are that of racial and religious discrimination, with the three women claiming they were forced to participate in Christianity-based prayers and practices.
Neither Lizzo nor her team have responded to the allegations.
