As a new mom, Lamiez Holworthy is going through the niggly, nagging inner voice, otherwise called mommy guilt, which has her second guessing every decision.
The celebrity DJ who welcomed her first child with husband, South African artist, Khuli Chana earlier this year, opened up about dealing with mommy guilt.
Being back at work, Lamiez said she struggles to leave her son, Leano behind, but is conflicted because she’s still hungry to give her all to her gigs and career.
Lamiez who has received some criticism since giving birth to her son, said motherhood is a juggling act, trying to adapt to the crazy hours she has to work and still find balance to be a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.
“First week fully back at work and I can’t explain all the emotions I’ve gone through. From the mommy guilt that comes with leaving your little one behind, to the hunger that comes with wanting to go extra harder just for him.
Then there’s your body, having to adapt or learn to push through the crazy hours all over again, and still give every gig your all.
I then look at all the love I’ve received at each and every one and it makes it all a little easier. It reminds me of the genuine love and support that I have, not only at home but at gigs too, and that alone is enough to carry me.”

Despite all the emotions that motherhood has brought to her life, Lamiez says she’s more determined to push herself harder, but has to remind herself to still be who she is.
“And now? Now that I have this newly found purpose, drive and hunger, I cannot wait to go even harder and still balance being a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, and all the other hats that I wear. But most importantly, still being able to be myself.”
