Excitement is brewing in the world of South African entertainment as former YoTV presenter Thato Dithebe steps into the lead role of the upcoming Mzansi drama series “Kokota.”
Dithebe’s first break happened as a YoTV presenter before he moved on to Channel O and finally entered the local soapie scene alongside Vusi Kunene in “House of Zwide”.
“Kokota” emerges as the much-anticipated 8 pm timeslot replacement following the first season of “Shaka iLembe” drawing to a close in September.
This fresh series brings forth a new narrative, promising to resonate with the hearts of South African viewers. The story unfolds against the backdrop of Mamelodi, Soweto, Johannesburg, and delves into the world of Amapiano.
The cast lineup is nothing short of star-studded, featuring names from popular soapies like “Gomora” and “The River” Joining Thato Dithebe are Obakeng Kgwedi, Koketso Motaung, Leera Mthethwa, Molefi Monaisa, Bathabile Mashigo, and Noel Baloyi.
“Kokota” promises a riveting blend of love, loyalty, and the haunting echoes of the past, all set against the backdrop of Amapiano’s vibrant melodies. As the characters grapple with decisions that could reshape their destinies, audiences will be immersed in a world where dreams, challenges, and sacrifices intertwine.
It is set to premiere on September 10th.
