Afro-soul musician Zamajobe Sithole officially turned 40 on Wednesday, and to celebrate the momentous occasion, she announced that she is opening a music and food spot.
In a video she shared on social media, Zamajobe showcased the progress of the renovations taking place at her soon-to-be eatery and expressed how excited she is to start her new journey.
“Birthday present to myself. Opening a music and food spot. I can’t wait to start on this journey. Yey it’s my birthday. I’m officially 40,” Zamajobe wrote on X.
She elaborated further on Instagram and said, “40th Birthday present to myself. Doors opening soon. God guide me in this next chapter of my life. Ndawo Yami Buy and braai by Zamajobe Today is my birthday, it’s my birthday.”
Zamajobe first gained recognition when she made it as a top 10 finalist on Idols season 2 in 2003.
She catapulted to fame with the release of her platinum-certified 2004 debut album Ndawo Yami, which earned her a South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Newcomer in 2005.
She has since released three more albums but went on to take a 10-year hiatus from the music industry, which she credits to a toxic relationship.
In May 2024, Zamajobe celebrated 20 years of her debut album, Ndawo Yami, with a three-date tour in Johannesburg and released her latest studio album, Umi, in November 2024.
She also celebrated 20 years of Ndawo Yami with an exclusive live and unplugged performance with Andy Maqondwana right here at Kaya House.
