Connie Ferguson has written a heartwarming message to celebrate Shona Ferguson’s nomination for an international award.
The late actor is up for ‘Best Lead’ in a drama series at the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPA). He received the nod for his role on Netflix’s ‘Kings of Joburg’.
Connie says she is proud that her husband is getting the recognition he deserves.
“My dear husband, I always told you that you were my favorite actor to work with, and probably one of the most underrated in this country! Your talent was beyond!” she wrote on Instagram.
“How you committed to each character you portrayed always left me in awe! You will never be forgotten! EVER! I have always been proud of you, and you continue to make us proud beyond the grave! God is good. Bravo Mr. Sho!” she concluded.

Shona Ferguson shines on ‘Kings of Joburg’
HAPA also recognised ‘Kings of Joburg’ in the ‘Outstanding Drama Series (Africa)’ category. Shona played the role of Simon in the series. Simon heads up the family’s criminal business.
Ferguson Films produced the six-part series. The storyline was inspired by stories from Shona’s childhood.
“It goes back to our childhood, where we had our parents tell us these stories. My dad used to tell us very scary stories. So it is going back to how he used to tell these stories of the demons and how certain influential people had supernatural powers,” he said in an interview in February.
We are crossing our fingers and toes for Shona and the ‘Kings of Joburg’ crew.
The Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPA) are taking place in Los Angeles on Sunday.
