- The main gate at Skukuza Rest Camp will temporarily close for scheduled maintenance.
- Visitors will be redirected to an alternative entrance at Hippo Circle Street via AM Spa and Skukuza Safari Lodge.
- SANParks advises holidaymakers to follow directional signs and allow extra time when entering the rest camp.
Holidaymakers who are planning to visit the Kruger National Park through Skukuza have been urged to take note of temporary changes to the rest camp’s main entrance as maintenance work is scheduled to continue into December.
The South African National Parks (SANParks) says the Skukuza Rest Camp main gate will temporarily close to facilitate planned maintenance work.
The closure will, however, not prevent visitors from accessing the rest camp, as alternative arrangements have been made.
A temporary entrance will be available at Hippo Circle Street, with access via AM Spa and Skukuza Safari Lodge.
Directional signs and park staff will be on hand to guide visitors along the designated routes and help ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
“Visitors are requested to follow directional signage and instructions from park staff to ensure a safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians,” the statement read.
According to SANParks, the planned work forms part of its ongoing infrastructure management programme, which aims to maintain the safety, functionality and longevity of facilities within the Kruger National Park.
Visitors travelling to Skukuza during the closure period are advised to allow extra time for the temporary access arrangements and pay attention to on-site signage.
“SANParks apologises for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and appreciates the patience and cooperation of visitors, tourism partners and staff while these important improvement works are undertaken.”
The project is expected to be completed by 4 December 2026, subject to weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
However once you have made it inside, you do not have to worry about how to spend your free time.
Kruger National Park offers an exciting variety of activities that visitors can embark or participate in.
