  • Police have discovered another woman’s body in Dawn Park, Ekurhuleni, bringing the total number of women’s bodies discovered in the metro to nine in two months.
  • The latest unidentified body was found in the early hours of Thursday morning.
  • SAPS says a multidisciplinary team has been mobilised to investigate the cases and bring those responsible to justice.

Gauteng police have found yet another woman’s body in Dawn Park, in the City of Ekurhuleni.

The woman was found in the early hours of Thursday morning, 17 September 2026, adding to the growing list of women’s bodies discovered in Ekurhuleni.

“Another body of a woman has been discovered in Dawn Park. The incident will be added to the investigations into the deaths of women in Ekurhuleni.

The unidentified body was discovered earlier this morning, 17 September 2026. This brings the total number of bodies discovered to nine in two months,” said Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

Women have once again been urged to take precautionary measures and avoid exercising on their own, especially as investigations into the deaths continue.

Law enforcement officials say this is not intended to restrict the freedom of women to move, exercise or live their lives.

They say it is about taking reasonable precautions while police continue with the investigations.

The state in which the bodies were found

  1. The first body, that of a 37-year-old woman, was discovered near the R21 on 15 July 2026. She was found naked and had been restrained with cable ties.
  2. The second body, that of a 32-year-old woman, was discovered near the R21 on 24 August 2026. She was also found partially clothed.
  3. The third body, that of an unidentified woman, was discovered on 10 September 2026. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition and was found naked.
  4. The fourth body, which has been identified as 38-year-old runner Elizabeth Moselakgomo, was discovered on 12 September 2026 in Rhodesfield, at the back of a hotel in the area.
  5. A fifth woman’s body was found under a bridge in Olifantsfontein, near Kempton Park, on Monday, 14 September 2026.
  6. A partially naked woman with bruises was also found in Olifantsfontein.
  7. On Tuesday, a naked woman in her 30s was found behind Club 69 in Kwa-Thema, Springs. Kekana said early findings by pathologists showed that she had been strangled.
  8. On Monday, 7 September 2026, a woman believed to be in her late 20s was found in a river in Clayville, near Mall of Thembisa, wearing only her underwear.
  9. The latest body, that of an unidentified woman, was discovered in Dawn Park in the early hours of Thursday morning, 17 September 2026. The woman’s body was found half-naked and wrapped in a sheet on the side of the road.

Nevhuhulwi says a multidisciplinary team of experts has already been mobilised to work on the cases and ensure that those responsible for the crimes are brought before the court.

    • regulate, in harmony with international standards, the processing of personal information by public and private bodies in a manner that gives effect to the right to privacy subject to justifiable limitations that are aimed at protecting other rights and important interests,
    1. Definitions and Interpretation

    1.1.“Personal Information” means information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person and where it is applicable, identifiable, existing juristic person, including all information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. 

    1.2  Parliament assented to POPIA on 19 November 2013. The commencement date of section 1, Part A of Chapter 5, section 112 and section 113 was 11 April 2014. The commencement date of the other sections was 1 July 2020 (with the exception of section 110 and 114(4). The President of South Africa has proclaimed the POPI commencement date to be 1 July 2020.

     
    1.3. “Processing” means the creation, generation, communication, storage, destruction of personal information as more fully defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
