South African actress Dineo Langa and her husband, rapper Zothile “Solo Ntsizwa” Langa, have been announced as the official hosts of the first season of Love Is Blind: South Africa.
The announcement was made as Netflix South Africa marked 10 years since launching in the country in 2016 during a press event in Rosebank, Johannesburg, on Wednesday.
Dubbed a “global social experiment”, Love Is Blind: South Africa follows the international format, where singles looking for love choose someone to marry without ever meeting them face-to-face.
“They will move in together, plan their wedding and test whether their emotional bond can survive physical realities, outside pressures and the journey to the altar,” Netflix said in a statement.
Netflix revealed that the popular series is produced by afrOkaans and is set to be released later this year.

Anele Mdoda’s wedding docu-soap also coming to Netflix
Netflix also announced that media personality Anele Mdoda’s wedding docu-soap, Stars & Vows: Anele and Buzza, will air later this year.
The series is expected to give viewers a closer look at Mdoda and her husband, Prince Bonelela “Buzza” James, as they prepare for and celebrate their wedding.
Dineo and Solo’s journey
Dineo and Solo have been married for seven years after dating for more than seven years before tying the knot in 2019.
The couple shared their wedding journey in a three-part special, Kwakuhle Kwethu, which aired on Mzansi Magic.
They later revealed that they both had ancestral callings to become sangomas, a journey they accepted together.
Dineo recently faced Glenlivet advert backlash
The Netflix announcement also comes after Dineo was recently caught up in controversy following a Women’s Month advert that used imagery linked to the 1956 Women’s March and struggle icons, including Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, Lilian Ngoyi and Sophie Williams-De Bruyn, to promote Glenlivet whisky.
The campaign was heavily criticised online for commercialising an important part of South African history.
Following the backlash, both Glenlivet and Dineo apologised and the advert was removed.
In a statement, Glenlivet said it was investigating how the campaign was conceptualised and approved.
