South African rapper and Uyajola 9/9 television host Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
The 45-year-old was arrested following an alleged kidnapping and shooting incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, Gauteng.
The altercation occurred at approximately 07:30 on Sunday, 14 June 2026.
According to police reports, the e-hailing driver had just dropped off a female passenger believed to be Maarohanye’s girlfriend at an Edenvale residence.
Maarohanye then allegedly confronted the driver, accusing him of being romantically involved with the woman.
The situation quickly escalated as the suspect reportedly forced the driver into his vehicle and held him captive. During the ordeal, Maarohanye allegedly fired a gun in the driver’s direction.
Fortunately, the driver managed to escape unharmed and immediately fled to a nearby police station to report the crime.
Law enforcement officials moved swiftly to apprehend the television personality shortly after the report was filed.
“Police acted shortly after the incident and arrested the suspect on charges of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public area and defeating the ends of justice.”
Maarohanye remains in custody ahead of his mid-week court date, while local police continue their investigations into the matter.
