South African actors Sthembiso “SK” Khoza and Melusi Yeni are set to host film auditions in their hometown of KwaMashu in KwaZulu-Natal.
SK, who is popularly known for his past role as Shaka in The Queen, took to social media to share his excitement at being able to give back to his neighbourhood.
“I am born and raised kwa – mashu, I would have loved to have gotten an opportunity like this one in my own neighborhood…, SK wrote.
He also encouraged his followers to grab the opportunity with both hands, adding, “So we all know how much talent comes from eSqawqaweni, so take a leap of faith and pull through…Happy to give back to my hood.”
In partnership with Sanqoba Khosland Productions, the film auditions are set to take place between 9AM and 5PM in KwaMashu Sports Centre from Saturday, 31 May to Sunday, 1 June 2025.
Aspiring actors are urged to put their acting skills to the test by preparing a one-minute monologue.
SK has been on a hiatus from the spotlight following a series of professional and personal challenges.
In 2023, he was fired from The Queen after he was accused of assault by his then-fiancée, Andy “Mandy” Hlongwane.
He also faced backlash and public scrutiny following a series of viral videos depicting his increasingly erratic behaviour.
Award-winning actor, Yeni, currently has roles in e.tv’s Smoke & Mirrors and Sibongile & The Dlamini’s on Mzansi Wethu.
In April 2025, he landed a lead role as Gumede in the SABC 1 telenovela Amalanga Awafani.
