Actor Tshepo “Bugzito” Seagiso, best known for his role as Charlie in The River on 1Magic, has joined the wave of tributes pouring in for the late Presley Chweneyagae, remembering his co-star as both a brilliant actor and a great human being.
Chweneyagae, who passed away at the age of 40, left a legacy that touched the stage, screen, and hearts of those he worked with.
Tshepo and Presley shared the screen on The River and more recently reunited in Chweneyagae’s latest series Cobrizi.
In an emotional message posted on social media, Tshepo expressed his grief and admiration for Presley:
“Obetsa bruwaka, akitsi kereng… 💔”
“Everyone keeps asking me what happened… According to me, what happened is… You came, you gave us a masterclass, and you showed us how this thing is done.”
Reflecting on their time together, Seagiso called Chweneyagae one of the greatest talents he’s ever encountered:
“You are amongst the greatest people I’ve ever come across, as both human and craftsman. Some of the best times in my life are the times we spent crafting on set. Never a dull moment with you, bruwaka.”
He also described the honour of sharing scenes with the Tsotsi star.
“Sharing scenes with you always kept me on my toes. From being a fan of your work on Tsotsi, to seeing you live on stage in shows like Silent Voice and Rhetorical, to finally working with you and experiencing your genius firsthand — I’ll forever cherish that.”
Chweneyagae’s passing has left the local film and television industry in mourning.
“I’m still in disbelief,” Seagiso ended his tribute. “Rest easy, Tobetsa lepara laka.”
Chweneyagae, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, 27 May 2025 due to natural causes.
