Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku recently opened up about the tragic passing of her mother and grandmother in 2021, after they were murdered at their home in Limpopo.
Speaking to Pasi Koetle on her Mommy Diaries podcast, Amanda revealed that she initially struggled to come to terms with the loss of her loved ones.
“I didn’t deal with it. I died. I think the day they passed was the day something inside me died, to be honest.”
Manku shared that her mother had her when she was just fifteen, so their relationship was more like a friendship, while her grandmother played the role of a mother in her life.
“I was angry with God. These were two women whose lives centred around prayer, and the way they departed from my life left me questioning everything.”
Amanda admitted that for a long time, she believed she was coping, but recently it hit her hard that they were truly gone.
“They were the centre of my life. Throughout my pregnancy, I would call my mom and then my gran afterwards.”
“Even today, when I’m faced with certain decisions, I still wonder how to make them without their guidance. They would have been a pillar for my son too. I won’t lie, losing both your mother and grandmother is something else entirely.”
Furthermore, Amanda expressed her anger towards God.
“I was shouting in my prayers, asking how God could allow that to happen. It’s something you can never fully get over.”
