John Amos, an Emmy-nominated actor who brought to life some of the most cherished characters in entertainment history, passed away at the age of 84.
With an impressive on screen career, he had roles in Let’s Do It Again with Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier, Coming to America with Eddie Murphy and its 2021 sequel Coming 2 America, along with Die Hard 2, Madea’s Witness Protection and Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler.
Amos also appeared in Ice Cube and Dr. Dre’s 1994 music video for the song Natural Born Killaz.
In a statement, his son K.C. Amos verified that Amos died on August 21, in Los Angeles, from natural causes, more than a month ago. The younger Amos remained silent for over a month after learning of his father’s passing.
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned,”
“He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved the world over. Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor.” wrote K.C. Amos
