From 7 days back to 5 days – Scandal scraps 7-day week broadcast.
South African soapie SCANDAL! a half-hour soap opera that broadcasts on e.tv at 19h30 with an omnibus of the week’s episodes every Saturday is set to cancel its 7-day week broadcast.
According to the Broadcast Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA)’s July data, the show garnered 3.6 million viewers, compared to 3.2 million in June. This comes after the e.tv soapie boosted its episode offering by broadcasting seven days at 19:30 in July.
On Wednesday, August 28, entertainment critic Phil Mphela stated that Scandal! will resume to its five-day-a-week schedule. After losing its hallmark #1 position in March, the soapie boosted its episode offering in July.
“Scandal cancels seven-day week broadcast. The e.tv soapie will return to its regular five-day-a-week broadcast schedule. #etvScandal will air Monday through Friday beginning September 2nd at 19h30,” Mphela wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter)
