The family of multi-award-winning and internationally acclaimed South African actress, Connie Chiume confirmed her passing on Tuesday evening, 06 August.
Chiume, who had just celebrated her 72nd birthday in June passed on at Garden City Hospital earlier in the day.
The family have called for privacy during this difficult time and further details will be communicated.
Connie Chiume is well-known for her roles in popular South African TV shows like Zone 14, Rhythm City, and Gomora, as well as her appearances in international films like Black Panther and Black Is King.
Aside from her acting career, Chiume was also a strong advocate for fair treatment of actors in South Africa and believed in sharing her knowledge with the next generation.
In 2023, she announced plans to host acting workshops across the country, with seminars scheduled in the Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and Free State.
