Tributes are pouring in for legendary South African actress Connie Chiume.
The family confirmed the 72-year-old’s passing in a statement.
The actress was in hospital at the time of her passing.
“The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed and award-winning actress Connie Chiume.”
Connie Chiume, 72, passed on at the Garden City Hospital today on 6th August 2024.”
The family has asked for privacy during this difficult period. They will communicate further details in due course.
In 2022, Connie Chiume made headlines when she attended the Hollywood premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in which she starred.
Chiume wore an impressive gown designed by Scalo the Designer.
Siphesihle Ndaba who stars alongside Connie Chiume in Gomora gushed about her success at the time, “Mama!!! You are so deserving! Bask in the glory.”
Thembi Seete couldn’t get over how stunning Connie looked. “Wow wow. You look Stunning, my love,” she raved.
The Wife actor Linda Majola wrote to Chiume: “You look so beautiful. Keep making us proud & raising our flag high. Love & Light Mamma Connie.”
