The highly-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 South African film Losing Lerato is premiering on Netflix in August.
Some of the thespians featured in the film including Skeem Saam’s Kea Leburu have let the cat out of the bag on social media.
Losing Lerato follows the story of a young father, Thami, played by Kagiso Modupe, who is struggling to connect with his daughter, Lerato, after a difficult separation from his wife. Desperate to be with his child, Thami decides to take matters into his own hands, resulting in a series of dramatic events. He kidnaps Lerato from school in a bid to spend time with her, but the situation quickly escalates, leading to a city-wide manhunt.
Produced by Bakwena Productions, Losing Lerato 2 will stream on Netflix starting in August 2024.
The film has received several accolades and has been recognized at various film festivals and award ceremonies.
