This week’s Open Line brought up some interesting questions for host Sizwe Dhlomo.
One listener called in asking for a concert from Kaya 959, which coincidentally was something Sizwe had been thinking about doing himself.
He’s been toying with the idea of throwing a concert this summer, but he wants to make sure everyone who attends is “well taken care of.”.
He is just waiting to get a sponsor to help kick things off.
Another listener wanted to hear Dhlomo’s thoughts on what it would take for Africa to be united.
The Siz The World host believes that we first need to look at the bone of contention among Africans.
“We need to ask why Africans do not like other Africans. I would argue that it has to do with scarcity and inequality.”
“If I feel like you have more than me or that the land that I live in has better opportunities than mine, then I might want to migrate to that land.
“When I get to that land, you might not like me because you are then going to feel that I am encroaching on your territory and I am living off of your resources.”
He believes that to achieve unity as Africans, we must first stabilise our continent.
“And this is a conversation we need to have amongst ourselves before we start talking about the external factors that sow division among us.”
Tune in every Friday to Siz The World on Kaya 959 to ask Sizwe Dhlomo, Sol Phenduka, Mpho Maboi, and Mfundo Mabalane anything you want!
