Jay Z and Nas have had one of the genre’s most contentious fued which started in 1994, when Nas became a household name after releasing his groundbreaking debut album Illmatic.
At the same time, Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z was just breaking into the scene and regarded as a rising star.
Over the years the two have jointly released some exciting songs going blow to blow taking jabs at each other. They eventually squashed their beef and have only been on songs together on three occasions, this was on:
- Nas’ track ‘Black Republicans’ (2006),
- Jay’s ‘American Gangster’ song ‘Success’ (2007)
- and Ludacris‘ ‘I Do It for Hip Hop’ (2008).
