Netflix have just whet the appetites of regular streamers to the platform and Jason Mamoa fans worldwide. Releasing a first look image of their upcoming feature film, Sweet Girl that stars Mamoa.
Mamoa shot to fame after his role as the dominating Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and then for his role as DC’s Aquaman. His latest inclusion in the Zack Snyder cut for Justice League is one of the most-talked about, where he reprised his role as Arthur Curry, protector of the oceans.
He will return in the franchise’s sequel in 2022, when Aquaman 2 is expected to be released.
Before that, Mamoa will take to the screens in the Brian Andrew Mendoza directed Netflix thriller, Sweet Girl.
Mamoa plays Cooper, a father left picking up the pieces after his wife’s murder. Seeking justice for his wife, while protecting his daughter Rachel, the image shared by Netflix this week doesn’t give away much.
We do have a release date, and we can expect the feature to stream on 20 August.
Revenge thrillers aren’t a new genre and we’ve seen it executed before with Marvel’s ‘The Punisher,’ but the inclusion of his daughter in the still does paint a darker tone for the film.
The trailer for Sweet Girl is expected to drop closer to the August release.
