Canadian singing sensation Celine Dion is ready to tell all in a new documentary about her battle to return to the stage, after being diagnosed with a rare disease.
The 56-year old “Queen of Power Ballads” was diagnosed with the neurological disorder, stiff person syndrome 2-years ago, forcing her to cancel her 2023 worldwide tours.
Stiff person syndrome causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms which come and go, and can worsen with time. There remains no cure for the disease, and despite efforts to try to find ways to treat her condition, the multi-Grammy award-winning artist is now trying accept her circumstances.
Breaking down in the emotional trailer for her documentary I Am: Celine Dion, the mother of 3 shares how much she misses being on stage, performing for massive crowds all over the world.
“My voice is the conductor of my life. When your voice brings you joy, you’re the best of yourself. I need my instrument.
I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder and I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but I’m ready now.
I see my life and I love every piece of it. When you record, it sounds great, but when you go on stage it will be even greater.
I think we did create our own magic. It’s not hard to do a show, it’s hard to cancel a show.
I’m working hard every day, but I have to admit it’s been a struggle.
I miss it so much. The people, I miss them.
If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I won’t stop.”
Despite her condition, Celine Dion released new music and promised fans a new album which was included as part of the soundtrack of the romantic comedy, Love Again.
With her music career spanning 30-years, Celine is one of the most instantly recognizable, well-liked, and successful musicians in pop music history with more than 250 million records sold worldwide.
Her number-one songs include “The Power of Love,” “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,” “Because You Loved Me,” and “My Heart Will Go On.”
She has won seven American Music Awards, two Academy Awards, and five Grammy Awards.
I Am: Celine Dion premieres on 25 June.
