Season 4 of the Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) really left a sour taste in Sorisha Naidoo’s mouth, to the point where she remains unsure of her return to the reality show.
Sorisha, who is married to billionaire businessman Vivian Reddy stormed off during the Season 4 reunion of the show after she felt emotional that her fellow cast members didn’t feel she deserved an apology.
This after makeup artist Neil Ramautar made comments about Sorisha in the presence of other housewives, calling her a sidechick and gold-digger amongst other derogatory names.
While Neil offered a forced apology to Sorisha on part 2 of the RHOD Reunion, Sorisha walked off the set with her heels in hand.
Neil’s apology came after Vivian came to his wife’s defence and gave him an ultimatum to apologise to Sorisha or face a defamation suit.
In an interview with Newzroom Afrika, the businesswoman and mother of two said she was unsure if she will return to the show unless there’s a major “shake up” and a more aspirational element that RHOD prioritizes.
As much as she believes the show is a success because of the production elements, the conflict and unecessary catfights between the housewives was taking an ugly turn.
“I feel Season 4 was the hardest for me because I took quite a few knocks. It was very hard to watch the final episode and not feel a certain way about it. I feel very dishearted that nobody felt they had to apologise to me.
By the time the apology was trying to come through at the reunion, I was over it. I was already checked out.
I did say that I probably wouldn’t be returning because I need some time to understand what has happened and to process it.
I said to production it would really depend on a huge shake up, because I don’t think I want to put myself in the situation where I’m surrounded by women who can’t be aspirational.”
