The Springboks and DHL Stormers were dealt a huge blow as Damian Willemse will be ruled out of the rest of the season due to a finger injury.
Willemse will miss the Vodacom United Rugby Championship (URC) season, the July Test series and the 2024 Rugby Championship after suffering an injury to his finger.
During the Stormer’s match up against Connacht in Galway, Willemse sustained the injury to his ligaments in his finger, and will need to undergo surgery as a result.
According to Netwerk24, the Bok fullback will be out of action for 4-months as he recovers from surgery.
Hoping his injury was just a sprain, Willemse who had more round with the Stormers in the URC, may now only rejoin the season with the Boks later this year.
The 26-year old joins fellow Bok player Lukhanyo Am on the list of Bok injuries. While the extent of Lukhanyo’s injuries has not been confirmed, the player will likely be out of game time for a while.
Willemse hasn’t shared comment on his injury.
