South African musician and businesswoman, Lady Du, recently took to social media to share some valuable insights from the music industry. Lately, Lady Du has been using her platform to educate fellow musicians about the business side of the entertainment industry.
In her latest thread, Lady Du warned artists about the dangers of spending all their money on designer clothes without making any investments. She emphasized the importance of securing investments outside of music and advised artists to consider buying property instead of renting, especially during the peak of their careers.
“Before you start buying designer clothes make sure you have secured yourself via investments out side of music, also learn to buy property instead of renting in the peak of your career, by the time you gig you focus solely on finishing it. Start a business to help you even when you are not gigging.”
Additionally, she posed a question to her fellow music industry colleagues: “Are you building a legacy or going with the flow, because when shxt hits the fan, you’ll remember the money you spend and we’ll see you on I blew it.”
She went on to express her gratitude, saying, “As your big sister, I want to say I love you all and thank you so much for your support. I am LADYDU because of YOU – your streams, bookings, and overall support have shaped me into the brand I am today. I will never take any of you for granted.”
