South African reality TV star Nonku Williams has been cast in the forthcoming Showmax Original, Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Chatting with Kaya 959, Williams discusses her experience as a seasoned housewife and the impact Real Housewives of Durban had on her life.
“It feels so great having that honour. I have grown so much over the years,” she expresses. “If you look at the first season of The Real Housewives of Durban and the fourth season, which is currently airing, you will see the growth.”
Reflecting on her journey, Williams notes that her perspective has changed after years of being on the show. “It (#RHODurban) has helped me look at myself honestly and shown me the things that I had to work on and improve about myself to become a better person.
“The thing about reality is that it shows you things that you might not have been aware of; it literally forces you to face things that you would have not normally addressed. That has helped me grow as a daughter, mother, sister, and friend.”
Comparing her experiences on The Real Housewives of Durban and Ultimate Girls Trip, Williams highlights the differences in dynamics.
“Filming Durban can be intense because there is a lot of history there; so much has happened between us, and it gets too real. With the Ultimate Girls Trip, it was different and fun. The ladies were down to have a good time and connect.”
She added, “I will say that the ladies on the Ultimate Girls Trip are very different from the ones in Durban. In this space, I was introduced to ladies who I did not know before, so it was like starting with a clean slate and building new relationships. For the first time in a while, people experienced me as I am, and I made genuine friendships.”
The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip – South Africa is a spin-off uniting iconic cast members from each of the South African franchises for a trip to Jamaica.
