The woman who allegedly kidnapped and murdered 4-year old Keeya Mbulawa from Protea Glen, Ext.1 in Soweto was arrested on Wednesday, 28 February.
This after the suspect who was reportedly living on the family’s premises had fled after her mother found her lifeless body stuffed inside the suspect’s suitcase.
Keeya went missing after playing with friends on Saturday, 13 January.
Keeya’s mother shared how she saw the suspect dragging a suitcase, which made her suspicious so she followed her.
The woman who was identified only by her first name, Nonhle was reportedly moving out of the Mbalawa’s residence.
Keeya was found inside Nonhle’s suitcase with her hands and feet tied, and a sock was stuffed inside her mouth.
The little girl was also found with a black cable tie around her neck.
Keeya was rushed to hospital and was unresponsive, but doctors did manage to get a pulse and she was then placed in the ICU.
Unfortunately Keeya passed and her mother had pleaded with police to find the women who was responsible.
On Wednesday, Nonhle was spotted in Protea Glen by a member of the community who alerted police and she has since been arrested.
She is expected to appear at the Protea Magistrates Court on Friday, 01 March facing charges of kidnapping and murder.
