Police are searching for Thabo Bezana, the son of businessman David Bezana, under suspicion that he is linked to cash-in-transit (CIT) heists.
David Bezana is said to be the owner of construction company, Rigamani and other businesses including a shishanyama in Randfontein.
According to police, David’s son Thabo was allegedly using his father’s shishanyama shop as a hideout for CIT heist suspects.
This follows a shootout with police in Randfontein earlier on Monday morning, 19 February which resulted in three arrests, and the death of one suspect.
The shootout ensued after police stopped a group of 5 men, alleged to be CIT heist suspects, who were about to pull off an attack on a CIT van that was transporting gold.
Speaking to Kaya News reporter Tsholofelo Tsoku, police say Thabo Bezana is wanted for questioning relating to an intelligence driven operation by Special Task Force, National Intelligence and TRT.
General Kekana confirmed that Thabo Bezana is currently on bail after being arrested previously for another CIT related crime in the province.
