The Democratic Alliance (DA) KwaZulu-Natal has confirmed the death of its uMngeni Municipality Chief Whip, Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.
Ndlovu was reportedly gunned down at his home on Tuesday evening, 05 December.
A motive for Ndlovu’s killing is unknown at this stage and the exact circumstances around his death have yet to be confirmed.
In a statement, the DA KZN is urging the South African Police Service (SAPS) to bring his killers to book without delay.
“The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal has learnt with shock and disbelief of the murder of the DA Chief Whip in the uMngeni Municipality, Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.
The DA sends its heartfel condolences to the family of Councillor Ndlovu, the DA caucus in uMngeni and the residents of the municipality have lost a humble servant who always puts the needs of those he served above his own.
He will sorely be missed.
We urge the South African Police Service to bring Councillor Ndlovu’s killers to book without delay.

DA leader KZN Francois Rodgers said the information that they have at present is that three armed men arrived at Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu’s home, fired off a few shots, kicked the door down and entered the home.
The DA Councillor was chased into the bedroom, where he was shot in front of his wife, 5-year-old daughter and their young baby.
Ndlovu’s family has been moved to a place of safety, and nothing was taken from the house.
SAPS is investigating a case of murder.
