Renowned South African sports journalist Jermaine Craig has passed away. His family confirmed his passing in a statement shared with the media on Monday afternoon.
According to the statement, Craig collapsed at the gym and was rushed to Sandton Medi Clinic, where efforts to revive him failed.
Craig worked for the Star sports department for many years before joining the 2010 FIFA World Cup local organising committee as the head of media and communications.
He was also Editor of The Argus and later GM of Sport for the Independent Newspapers Group. At the time of his death, he had formed his own communications company, Craig Communications, and was a consultant for several organisations including Kaizer Chiefs, LaLiga, NBA Africa, and 4Racing, among others.
Information regarding his funeral will follow in due course.
