1995 World Cup champion Springbok player Hannes Strydom has passed away.
Hannes Strydom, a 58-year-old former rugby player for South Africa, passed away in a motor vehicle accident.
Strydom was a member of the Springboks team that is renowned for winning the Rugby World Cup in 1995. Sadly, Strydom would become the fifth member of the winning 1995 team to pass away, joining the ranks of James Small, Joost van der Westhuizen, Chester Williams, and Ruben Kruger.
The incident reportedly happened on Sunday in the Mpumalanga province, close to the coal mining town of eMalahleni.

Throughout his career, Strydom earned 21 Springboks caps, spanning from 1993 to 1997.
His former club the Lions along with members of the Rugby fraternity have paid tribute to the fallen rugby champion:
