Anyone who has ever dropped their cellphone or tablet will know that heart-stopping, breath-halting gasp as you tightly close your eyes and pray that the screen doesn’t crack.
The pain of cracking your cellphone goes deeper than just your screen, it’s the inconvenience of being without a phone whilst it’s being repaired, and of course the costs.
If you don’t have insurance on your phone, you could be left without a way of communicating for weeks, or months.
Not to mention if your budget doesn’t allow you to replace the screen immediately. Getting a replacement phone may be an option, but with most of our lives literally being embedded into our smart devices, it’s not that easy.
Screen protectors are designed to take on most of the scratches and cracks and keep your cellphone screen clean and fingerprint free, but there are some falls that can defeat even the toughest tempered glass.
Thomas and Skhumba touched on why some people choose to not have their cellphones repaired, no matter how badly cracked their screens are.
According to the Washington Post, most teenagers don’t mind walking around with cracked cellphones, and the reason is street cred.
Apart from parents simply refusing to cover the costs for their child’s cellphone repairs, a number of youngsters don’t mind using a phone with spiderweb like cracks because it gives the impression that they have “survived some real-life stuff.”
