Thebe Lenyora and his wife recently celebrated their anniversary, marking 22 years of marital bliss for the South African couple.
Having been together for an impressive 27 years, Thebe took the opportunity to wish his beloved wife a happy anniversary. He expressed his unwavering commitment by stating that if given the chance to choose a partner all over again, he would undoubtedly choose her once more.
In 2018, Thebe Lenyora graced the Kaya 959 studios, and one particular conversation that stood out was about Thebe living in Hillbrow at Park Mansions on Van der Merwe Street, just 150 meters from the Hillbrow Police station. This was both at the dawn of democracy and Kwaito music. The likes of Lebo Mathosa and Arthur Zwane, among others, lived in the neighborhood; they deemed it Chicago because of the talent and lifestyle there.
Lenyora was the second artist to be signed under the record label Kalawa Jazzmee after Boom Shaka. Almost three decades later, Thebe is a father and businessman.
“’ I’ve never been a celebrity, and that has helped me stay grounded,” said the musician, who studied sound engineering and later turned into a club DJ. His first big hit was Philly, which he initially composed for Bruce’s tavern-owner cousin, who asked them for a song for his establishment. The record was included on Thebe’s album and would later reach gold status.
