Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has confirmed that the AmaZulu King, Misuzlu kaZwelithini has been hospitalised in eSwatini having taken ill on Saturday, 01 July.
In a statement issued by Prince Buthulezi, he feared the King had been poisoned, having fallen ill quite suddenly.
“I am informed that his Majesty’s senior Induna, Mr Xaba, who stayed with the King, passed on quite suddenly and that there were suspicions that he was poisoned. When His Majesty began to feel unwell, he suspected that he too may have been poisoned.
He immediately sought out medical treatment in eSwatini, because His Majesty felt uncomfortable seeking treatment in South Africa, as his parents had both received treatment in South Africa and subsequently died.
It is understood that His Majesty is under medical care and is doing well. Further information will be conveyed when it becomes available.”
Statement by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi on King Misuzulu’s hospitalisation under suspicions of poisoning
Prince Buthelezi said the reason for his statement, despite the King having a Head of Communication is because he is the traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu monarch and nation and has an obligation to inform the nation of this worrying situation.
The immediate concern is for the King’s wellbeing, and the Zulu nation is praying for His Majesty’s full and swift recovery.
Prince Buthelezi said should there be any reason for further investigations, relevant authorities would be informed.
The King’s alleged poisoning comes 2-months after false reports over His Majesty’s ill-health.
