On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, late Hip Hop icon Tupac Shakur was honoured posthumously with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Shakur received his star in the category of Recording.
Speaking at the induction, Tupac’s sister Sekyiwa ‘Set’ Shakur said it “fills her heart with honor to stand here today representing the Shakur family,” while holding back her tears.
Sekyiwa shared that her brother knew deep down that he was always “meant for something great.”
As Tupac’s little sister, Set had the privilege to watch that “greatness unfold.”
“From the first time he stepped foot on the stage of the Apollo Theater at 13 years old, before anyone recognized his name, he knew he had the dream to have a star here on the Walk of Fame,” she added.
“And we gather here today to unveil Tupac’s star. Not only to pay tribute to his contribution to the music industry but also to speak volumes to the lasting impact he has had on his world. Today we not, we are not just honouring a star but we are honouring the work and passion he has put into making his dreams come true. His heavenly star will shine a little bit brighter today. Once again he has made us all extremely proud. We love you Tupac.”

Tupac’s life and legacy continue to influence millions today, from a historic performance via hologram at Coachella 2012 to a cameo on Kendrick Lamar’s critically praised 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly. In 2015, the Grammy Museum opened Tupac’s first museum exhibit, All Eyez on Me: The Writings of Tupac Shakur. And in 2022, Tupac Shakur: Wake Me When I’m Free, a fully immersive, thought-provoking museum experience exploring the life and legacy of the artist.
