Legendary South African singer Nhlanhla Mafu has released a new single titled Ngifuna uMandela.
According to Virgin Music Group South Africa, the track blends Afro-house and 3-Step influences into a vibrant sound that highlights Mafu’s growth as a contemporary pop star.
The song is rooted in tradition but has a contemporary edge, emphasising her ability to achieve crossover appeal while remaining grounded in cultural pride.
“Ngifuna uMandela is both a celebration of identity and a statement of artistic growth, marking a significant moment in South Africa’s evolving electronic music scene,” the record label said in a statement.
Leading up to the release, the songstress shared her excitement with fans on social media.

“This grind is sacred — it feeds vision, peace, and legacy. I labor with purpose, not pressure,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
Since the release of the song, she has revealed that she worked with producers and songwriters BosPianii and Sponchmakhekhe.
Being the fashionista she is, Mafu was also responsible for the art direction of the official photoshoot for the album cover.
Ngifuna uMandela is out on all platforms.
