Sol Phenduka has not had any members of his family over at his home in the last four years. He says there’s no beef, but since his mom and grandmother passed on they haven’t been that close. “I only see them at funerals or family gatherings,” shares Sol.
This sparked the conversation on 959 Breakfast about rules when it comes to family members visiting.
For Dineo Ranaka, it’s the opposite. She has different rules when it comes to family visiting. “My fam can visit whenever. I love having them around. I won’t ask many questions,” she says.
Ayanda from Boskburg shares the same sentiments as Sol. “For me, it’s like after my grandmother passed on I didn’t see the need to be around family. We understand each other like that. A lot of people when you love people they have to be next to you. Sometimes it’s good to keep a distance,” she shared.
Another listener doesn’t mind having family over, however, she prefers to be told in advance so she can prepare. “I love my family. We are only three siblings and have five children. I love it when they visit, but I want them to tell me in advance so that I can prepare food for them,” said the listener.
