Makhadzi’s team have addressed a “bottle throwing incident” at her recent Easter performance in Zimbabwe, setting the record straight and confirming that the singer was unharmed.
The Limpopo-born artist’s manager, Brendan Maseko from Open Mic Productions said Makhadzi is well and was not injured.
Maseko also denied that the crowd threw bottles because they became disgruntled after the artist’s poor performance.
“What happened on Saturday, 08 April, people didn’t throw bottles or things a Makhadzi, it’s false. It was the weakness of the promoter regarding security at the venue and the event. The barricade for the golden circle and general access was just a barricade.
There was no security there. Immediately when Makhadzi got onto the stage people wanted to come forward and see her and they pushed the barricade.”
But, according to Zimbabwe media, The Manica Post, fans were angry when Makhadzi arrived late, and went on stage without a live band.
It was reported that Makhadzi kept fans waiting until 01h00, resulting in an angry group throwing beer bottles and other objects at the stage while others destroyed barricades which separated the VIP section.
Makhadzi’s manager also stressed that the artist saw out most of her performance but didn’t complete her set because they didn’t want to put others at risk.
