One person has been killed and 21 others injured after a bakkie rolled over on the M71 in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 07 March.
The male casualty was in his thirties but it is unclear if he was the driver of the bakkie.
ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident near the Jukskei river to find the vehicle on its side.
According to emergency personnel, several passengers who were on the back of the bakkie had fallen around the road.
The scene was closed to traffic earlier and the exact cause of the accident are unknown at this stage.
Local authorities will be investigating the incident further.
“One man had sustained fatal injuries and four others were in a critical condition. Sixteen other patients sustained minor to moderate injuries, and patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospitals for further treatment.”
This incident comes a day after a multi-car pile up in Durban involving a truck which crushed into 36 vehicles.
