The truck driver who reportedly caused a multi-car pile up in Umhlanga, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on Monday, 06 March fled the scene.
This after the driver seemingly lost control of the vehicle and ploughed into an estimated 36 cars on the M41 highway, in Umhlanga Ridge at 07h00.
While no casualties have been reported, a number of people sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.
One of the injured, a pregnant woman had to be stabilised on scene before being transported to a medical facility.
Medics attending the scene treated 22 patients, while sifting through the wreckage.
A number of cars were piled one on top of the other, with a few vehicles overturned and severely damaged.
Reaction unit responders say the truck overturned about a kilometre away from the scene.
