Turkey’s earthquake kills over 1,200 people, thousands were injured, and 1,700 buildings collapsed.
Authorities reported that a strong 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria early on Monday left at least 1 200 people dead and many injured.
According to Al Jazzera, while 467 persons lost their lives in Syria, at least 912 deaths were reported in Turkey.
Buildings were toppled by the massive earthquake, which led to an urgent search for survivors.
The epicenter was close to the major provincial capital of Turkey, Gaziantep, which is home to more than two million people.

Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has given an updates saying 2,470 people have been rescued from rubbles.
Horrific videos depicting the scenes of the earthquake are being widely shared on social media.
