The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has warned that wet weather is expected to persist well into next week, across most parts of the country.
This comes after heavy overnight downpours caused flooding across Gauteng on Thursday, 08 December.
According to City of Joburg, some of the hardest hit areas include Florida, Roodepoort and surrounding areas, Soweto, Lenasia and the inner city.
SAWS says heavy rains is expected to intensify from Saturday, 10 December, starting from the northern, eastern and western Cape as well as KwaZulu-Natal.
This is due to a cut off low pressure system which will spread across to the Free State, North West, Gauteng and Mpumalanga from Sunday and Monday.
Other hazards associated with this system are hail and lightning.
