Gauteng residents are being urged to exercise caution and brace themselves for more heavy rains and flooding which is expected to last until Sunday, 11 December.
This after excessive rains overnight battered most of the province, causing flash floods, roads to wash away and damage to vehicles and property.
One of the worst hit areas at present is the Florida and Roodepoort surrounds due to the Florida Lake overflowing, causing roads to either wash away or sink altogether.
This comes after Monday’s thunder and hail storm also wrecked havoc on parts of the province.
Member of the Mayoral Committee: Environment and Infrastructure Services Department, Michael Sun has cautioned motorists to avoid a number of roads that were affected by the overnight floods.
The most severely affected roads are Kiburn Road and bridge, Wilgerood Road, near Florida Lake and Schlapo Street, Groblerpark.
However, a number of areas including Midrand, Ivory Park, Diepsloot, Fourways, Rosebank, Northcliff, Emmarentia, Roodepoort and Florida to name a few are also affected.
The full list of affected roads and areas are detailed below:
